Technical Project Manager

We move fast. Do you?

2025.03.04 - Technology - Nightjar
Nightjar team all working and talking to one another

Nightjar is a design technology studio that builds award-winning brands, digital products, and platforms for ambitious companies. Our work has been recognised at the Webbys, Good Design Awards, AGDA Awards and Awwwards. Our clients include Guide Dogs, Destination NSW, Salter Brothers Hospitality, House of Heat and Armadillo to name a few.

Our project team is growing, and we need someone who can keep up.

The role

We’re looking for a mid to Technical Project Manager who can work alongside our highly technical Product Delivery Lead as an equal - technically literate, client-confident, and capable of owning a project from kickoff to launch without hand-holding.

You're organised without being rigid. You know that a good project isn't just one that's delivered on time, but one where the client feels great about working with you throughout.

Critically, you're a problem solver, not a message passer. When something breaks, goes sideways, or gets complicated, your instinct is to dig in and help fix it, not forward an email and wait. You bring solutions to the table, not just status updates. You take initiative without needing to be asked, and the people around you feel the difference.

You're the kind of person who spots a problem before it becomes one, communicates clearly under pressure, and doesn't need to be chased.

What you'll own

  • End-to-end delivery of digital projects - across web platforms with complex integrations, mobile apps, eComm builds
  • Client relationships across your project portfolio - you're the primary contact, you set the tone
Scopes, timelines, budgets, and resource plans - built by you, managed by you
  • Sprint planning and day-to-day coordination across design, development, and strategy teams
  • Risk identification and active problem solving when things shift - you find the fix, not just the flag
  • Contributing to how we improve delivery at Nightjar - processes, tooling, documentation - and automating tools to talk to each other

What you'll need

  • 3-6 years of project management experience in a digital agency or product studio
  • Genuine technical literacy - comfortable with website and app development concepts, able to interrogate a scope or an engineering estimate
  • Experience managing client relationships
  • Strong with project tooling - we use Asana, Notion, Slack and Figma
  • An understanding of both agile and fixed-scope delivery models
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Hands on experience with eCommerce platforms, CRM systems, CMS platforms, ERP systems - jumping in and working out how things tick is second nature to you

Nightjar perks

  • Leafy and lovely studio environment in a cool hood
  • Friday team lunches
  • Monthly Nightjar excursions
  • Birthday day off
  • Performance reviews and development plans to enable you to shine
  • Get rewarded with recurring awards and showcases
  • Personal tax returns completed for you
  • Training budget for whatever tickles your fancy, we're always here to help you grow
  • A team surrounding you who is dedicated to doing the absolute best that can be done on any given opportunity
  • Work on Award-winning projects and learn from Awwwards, AGDA and Webby judges
