Nightjar is an experience design and technology company based in Sydney, specialising in UX strategy, design, and innovative tech. We partner with brands and startups across the world, to build engaging design-led solutions which make a global impact. Your Role

Nightjar are on the hunt for a brilliant, curious, and energetic Senior Experience Strategist.


With a key studio focus on innovation, personalisation, and fluid end to end experiences for our partner’s brands and products, this Strategist will be a key player within the Nightjar team.


You will love combining data with creativity, and apply customer-centric strategic thinking to all of our projects, honing the craft of customer experience strategy and ensuring it informs all our design and technology decisions.


Your role involves exercising intellectual curiosity and championing user-first processes and techniques such as customer research and data, insight gathering, journey mapping, product roadmapping and feature prioritisation, and collaborating with project teams to translate insight to action. You’ll love coming to our Surry Hills studio to solve problems together with your fellow Nightjars. We’re also flexible in this new era and know that working from home can help you focus when needed.

What You’ll Do

Put the user first:

  • Champion customer-centric principles and processes, ensuring outcomes meet both business and user goals
  • Understand digital and physical touch points across various platforms, and how they connect to create meaningful executions
  • Create personas and customer journey maps to uncover both short and long term gaps, opportunities, and spaces for innovation
  • Lead and / or support facilitation of workshops, both internal and with Nightjar partners
  • Expertly handle feature prioritisation workshops with clients and work with Nightjar producers to ensure what’s being built is the right thing for the user

Be our client’s biggest ally:

  • Interpret partner briefs and immerse yourself in their business challenges and user needs
  • Identify opportunities for our partners’ business and their end users through your expertise
  • Actively seek new opportunities for our partners’ continuous improvement and growth through digital practices

Measure success:

  • Pinpoint user problem statements, set product visions and meaningful OKRs, then ensure these are solved, met and exceeded every time
  • Define sound customer segments for our partner’s CRM strategies
  • Develop and execute A/B testing plans

Value research & data:

  • Write research proposals and conduct qualitative and quantitative research
  • Create user testing plans and interrogate proposed solutions with real users in the Prototype phase
  • Love being challenged and be able to back yourself through data

Be a champion internally:

  • Inspire the design team with your dazzling UX briefs and customer insights
  • Both assist and lead the strategic approach across the entire Nightjar portfolio
  • Be responsible for Nightjar’s strategic product and ensure world-class standards of thinking and implementation
  • Ensure your findings are shared, understood, and harnessed by all Nightjar departments
  • Run quarterly sessions with Nightjar team and our partners with updates on trends, insights, CX methodologies and changing behaviours
  • Contribute to opinion pieces on The Wire
  • Develop compelling case studies as part of Nightjar’s PR

Get shit done:

  • Collaborate closely with Head of Experience Strategy, as well as Head of Design Technology and our team of designers and engineers to ensure your insights are sound and your strategies take flight
  • Love crafting strategies as well as rolling up your sleeves to bring them to fruition
  • Create high quality, commercially viable and attractive proposals and presentations
  • Confidently present to senior clients

Be meticulous:

  • Not be satisfied with ‘good enough’, and continually refine and improve your process, your thinking, and the execution of your strategies

Skills

  • 8+ years experience in agency or consulting
  • Strategy & product roadmapping (for business and customer needs)
  • An understanding of strategy fundamentals, research, performance marketing and eCommerce
  • Strong grasp of data analytics
  • Proven examples of using research to validate business needs, and influencing product features
  • Ability to turn insights into actionable strategies to achieve business goals
  • Background in ethnographic research a bonus
  • Strong written skills and a confident, compelling presenter
  • A genuine passion for technology and the way it can shape our lives for the better
